Abstract
In the beginning of the twenty-first century our relationship with the Modern Movement is still inherent in the whole society. The ideals and modernist terms, founded in the early twentieth century, have been experiencing a social and projectual transformation that crossed the entire century and transfigured the design from its modernist forms, to postmodernist forms, and finally, to the contemporary condition in which we live.
While many projects represented the translation of several visions and ideologies associated with these movements, the utopian spirit remained, and with him, many of the views expressed. Starting from the interconnection between the concepts of design, city and utopia, we traveled and mapped some of the experiments that connect the utopianism and the design along the timeline of the Modern Movement, debating and reflecting the ambivalence of concepts such as authority and disorder, dream and reality and process and outcome that incorporated the transformation that the design has suffered up to the contemporary reality framework.
